Roj News Agency reported today, citing local sources, that the Turkish occupation army has renewed its bombardment on various areas in S. Kurdistan.

According to the source, the Turkish occupation army bombarded areas in the Amadiya district and 5 villages on Mount Metina in Dohuk province, causing fires in the villages, orchards, and surrounding fields, resulting in significant material damage to properties.

The ongoing bombardment has forced families to flee those villages and seven other nearby villages in the Mount Metina and Batoufan areas, heading towards the Amadiya district center.

Since the beginning of last July, the Turkish occupation army, with the participation of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), has intensified its attacks and incursions into various areas of S. Kurdistan, occupying vast areas, particularly in Dohuk province, leading to large-scale displacement and massive destruction of citizens' properties, amidst the silence of Iraqi authorities. The defense of S. Kurdistan has been limited to the People's Defense Forces (HPG).

An agreement between the Iraqi authorities and Turkey was signed the day before yesterday, which popular circles saw as legitimizing Turkey's occupation of Iraqi lands. The latest to criticize this was Muhammad al-Tamimi, Secretary-General of the Waad al-Sadiq Brigades, who described the agreement in a statement issued yesterday as surrender and a concession of national sovereignty.
