Turkish attacks fuel ISIS resurgence

 The Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Mazloum Abdi said in several recent statements that they have information about ISIS planning to launch attacks on facilities that house ISIS mercenaries in detention centers in the region of NE Syria.

In an interview with the British newspaper "The World", Abdi said: "We have intelligence information about plans to launch attacks on facilities that house ISIS members or their families," stressing that the attacks of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries affect the deployment of the Syrian Democratic Forces.

Following downfall of the Syrian regime on December 8, ISIS mercenaries launched 6 attacks against civilians and members of the former Syrian regime in the Syrian Badia, resulting in the deaths of 70 military and civilian personnel.

Additionally, on December 17, ISIS mercenary cells targeted a security checkpoint of the Internal Security Forces in the countryside of Raqqa, killing two members of the forces and wounding others and civilians.

They also moved in the southeastern countryside in Tabqa canton, targeting checkpoints of the Internal Security Forces and the SDF near Maadan.

The US military announced on December 16 that it had killed 12 ISIS mercenaries during operations aimed at "preventing" the terrorists from carrying out external operations and ensuring that they do not seek opportunities to reconstitute themselves in central Syria.

Iraqi officials spoke of information about ISIS seeking to attack areas in NE Syria, specifically the detention centers of mercenaries in the prisons of the Autonomous Administration.

 Furthermore, ISIS attacks are a source of international concern expressed by Western officials, that ISIS will seek to take advantage of the security vacuum and chaos in Syria.

 ISIS is exploiting the attacks of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries in Manbij and the vicinity of Kobani.

 Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein warned that ISIS mercenaries have begun to reorganize their ranks in Syria, after seizing quantities of weapons after downfall of the regime.

The minister's warning came during his call with the British Minister for Middle East and North Africa, Hamish Falconer.

"ISIS is reorganizing its ranks, as it seized quantities of weapons as a result of the collapse of the Syrian army and its abandonment of its weapons depots, which allowed it to expand its control over additional areas." Falconer added.
