Juvenile Court, Rehabilitation Center in Jazira Canton opened

on Tuesday, the Social Justice Authority, in cooperation with the Child Protection Organization in Kurdistan, inaugurated the  Juvenile Court and Rehabilitation Center in Qamishlo city.

The opening was attended by representatives of the Democratic Autonomous Administration, the Social Justice Council, the Bar Association, the Reconciliation Committees, the Women's Center, and Civil Society organizations.

The opening began with standing a minute of silence, followed by a speech delivered by Attia al-Nimah, the co-chair of the Justice Council in the North and East Syria Region, who emphasized the importance of the center and its necessity in rehabilitating children and ensuring their dignity.

Attia al-Nimah made clear that juvenile delinquents require a dedicated approach that preserves their dignity and rehabilitates them in accordance with the Region's juvenile law.

For his part, the director of the Kurdistan Child Protection Organization, Khalaf Abdul Bari, emphasized that the opening of the center is an important step in supporting the Social Justice Council's efforts to achieve justice and ensure protection and fairness for juvenile delinquents. He explained that the center's primary goal is to provide comprehensive rehabilitation programs for those children, helping them overcome their difficult experiences and providing them with a safe environment that supports their psychological and social development.

Abdul Bari also noted that the center accommodates approximately 60 children, providing specialized and comprehensive care for each child. This helps them acquire the skills necessary to become active and positive members of society, thus reducing the likelihood of recurrence of delinquency and enhancing their chances of sustainable reintegration into normal life.

So'od Daoud, the legal advisor to the Internal Security Forces, indicated that the court's primary goal is to protect children's rights, work to develop them, and ensure their access to the necessary education, enabling them to integrate into society in a sound and balanced manner.

Daoud emphasized that nation-building begins with children, as they are the foundation for establishing a strong and stable future. Therefore, they must be provided with all the support and opportunities to become active and positive members of their communities.

This center is considered the first of its kind in Jazira canton, aims to provide care and rehabilitation for juvenile delinquents, contributing to promoting social justice and protecting children's rights in the region.

The center seeks to provide a safe and supportive environment that helps children overcome the difficulties they face and enables them to integrate positively into society, enabling them to become an active and contributing part in building a better future for their community.
