Transitional govt. targets Internal Security Forces in Sheikh Maqsoud

Late on Sunday night, the transitional government forces in Syria targeted one of the Internal Security Forces’ points around the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo. The Internal Security Forces in Aleppo reaffirmed their full commitment to protecting the residents in an official statement.

The statement read: “The Internal Security Forces in Aleppo condemn the ongoing attacks and provocations carried out by the transitional government forces and their armed groups, which are targeting the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh, thereby threatening the safety and stability of the civilian population.”

The statement explained that during the past hours, one of the Internal Security Forces’ points in the vicinity of Sheikh Maqsoud was subjected to sniper attacks and direct gunfire, in an apparent attempt to create tension and push the region toward new armed confrontations. This, the statement noted, represents a blatant violation of efforts aimed at maintaining security and protecting civilians.

The Internal Security Forces affirmed that these attacks come despite continuous efforts to maintain calm and ceasefire, which proves that the attacking parties are not committed to any understandings or de-escalation agreements and continue to pursue a policy of escalation and destabilization.

The Internal Security Forces reiterated their full commitment to protecting civilians and maintaining the safety and stability of the neighborhoods, emphasizing that they will not hesitate to fulfill their duty in defending the residents and protecting their lives. The statement also called on all parties to take responsibility for preserving civil peace and preventing the region from sliding into a new cycle of violence.
