A source from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) told "Al-Muntada" that the transitional government in Syria blocked the entry of UN humanitarian aid into the city of Suwayda. The government cited the refusal of "local factions" in Suwayda to allow any government official into the province.

The source added that the transitional government refused to allow UN staff to enter, preventing them from communicating with the local population and documenting the abuses and violations committed by government forces, according to the source.

The source further revealed that UN Secretary-General António Guterres has intervened in the ongoing negotiations with the transitional government to allow the entry of aid, amidst the worsening food and humanitarian crisis in Suwayda.
