Tel Aviv issues strong warnings to Damascus

Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz today warned the head of the Damascus regime, Ahmad Al-Sharaa, against continued “attacks on Druze in Syria,” stating that if the “attacks” do not cease, Tel Aviv will respond with significant force.

Katz said, “I repeat my warning to the head of the Syrian regime, Al-Joulani: If the attacks on Druze in Syria do not stop, we will respond with great severity.”

He added, “Following yesterday’s attacks on Druze in Syria, the Prime Minister and I instructed the Israeli army to carry out several warning strikes against extremist elements, and a clear message was delivered to the Syrian regime, which bears responsibility for preventing such attacks.”

Katz continued, “We are committed to protecting the Druze and are closely monitoring the situation. If the attacks on the Druze resume and the regime fails to stop them – we will respond with great force.”

Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee stated in a press release: “Earlier today, two Syrian Druze citizens were evacuated to receive medical treatment in Israel. They were transferred to Ziv Medical Center in Safed after being injured inside Syria.”

He added, “IDF forces are deployed in the southern Syria region and remain prepared to prevent the entry of hostile forces into the area and into Druze villages. The IDF continues to monitor developments and remains ready to defend and respond to various scenarios.”
