Tartous countryside sees surge in violence: 3 killed, Cleric abducted

The Tartous countryside has witnessed a series of bloody incidents in recent hours, where three citizens were brutally killed by unknown armed assailants, while a well-known religious figure from the Alawite community was kidnapped in an incident that has sparked widespread concern among local residents.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, unidentified gunmen in a vehicle opened fire directly at a man in front of his barbershop in the village of Majdaloun Al-Bahr, killing him instantly. Hours later, a similar crime occurred in the Jisr Al-Khreibat area, where the same gunmen targeted another civilian and killed him in the same manner.

In a third escalation, a third victim was killed on the Beit Alyan–Dahbash road using the same method, indicating a series of organized operations targeting Alawite civilians, according to the Observatory’s reports.

The Observatory also documented the abduction of Sheikh Saleh Saud, the deputy imam of the Ali bin Abi Talib Mosque in the Al-Jami’ neighborhood of Tartous city, who is known for his active role in promoting civil peace and dialogue among the local community's various components.
