Targeting infrastructure violates international norms - conventions

The Turkish occupation state is still escalating its attacks on North and East Syria. It targeted and continues to target infrastructure, vital facilities and civilians in front of the eyes of the whole world.

ANHA's agency conducted a meeting with the Deputy co-chairmanship of the Executive Council of North and East Syria, Yasser Al-Sulaiman, who confirmed that “the Turkish occupation state’s targeting of vital installations, infrastructure, and workers in service institutions and vital facilities violates international norms, conventions, and good-neighbourliness agreements, and that it exploits the fragility of the Syrian regime and its inability to protecting the borders with the aim of emptying the region and changing its demographics.”

He added: "Turkey seeks to achieve victories, even if they are imaginary, at the expense of the Syrian and Iraqi peoples, regardless of the internal problems it suffers from, the absence of democracy inside Turkey, and the economic deficit."

He pointed out that "in the absence of the position of the Global Coalition, led by the United States of America, with which the Autonomous Administration was a partner in fighting terrorist organizations, the coalition did not fulfill its obligations towards the Autonomous Administration and its civil institutions, which makes it difficult to protect the camps and prisons that house the families of extremists , which threatens peace and stability in the region and reflects negatively on global peace and stability.”

Yasser Al-Sulaiman noted, "There are complex matters, tensions, and polarization taking place in the region, and it is expected that there will be a change in the map of influence and the distribution of powers in Syria and the Middle East, as a result of the confusion that occurred in the political and geopolitical scene, especially in Syria and North and East Syria."

He stated, "These attacks come as a continuation of what the Iranian militias began targeting the areas of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, especially in Deir ez-Zor, along with cells affiliated with the Syrian regime. They tried to undermine stability in the region, and after that we saw the fierce Turkish attacks that devastated the region."

He stressed, "This matter did not prevent the Autonomous Administration and its components from moving forward with the implementation of economic projects that serve the region. We also call on the international community to put an end to Turkey."
