The Syrian arena is witnessing significant political transformations amid complex internal and external challenges, where the positions of local and international powers interact with the field and political developments in the country.

In this context, the Secretary-General of the Syrian National Party, Thabet al-Jawhar, expressed his welcome to the decision of U.S. President Donald Trump to lift sanctions on Syria, as well as the decision of the European Union to lift sanctions on some institutions and banks, in an interview with ANHA's agency.

Al-Jawhar considered these steps a real opportunity towards stabilizing the country, especially in light of the fluctuations in the political scene, the varying positions of countries regarding the Syrian crisis, and the increasing challenges facing the state and society.

The agreement between Mazloum Abdi and Ahmad al-Shara'a is a fundamental pillar for building the future.

Al-Jawhar saw that the agreement signed between the Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Mazloum Abdi, and the head of the Damascus authority, Ahmad al-Shara'a, constitutes a positive foundation that can be built upon to reach national understandings that preserve the gains of northeastern Syria. He affirmed that these gains, achieved thanks to the autonomous administration project and the sacrifices of its martyrs, represent a model for unifying the political and social components in the region.

Turkey and Israel's violations threaten the sovereignty of the Syrian state.

Syria faces significant challenges related to the violation of its sovereignty by both Turkey and Israel, the most prominent of which is the continuous cutting off of water to the city of al-Hasakah by Turkey, threatening the most basic elements of life. The suffering of the forcibly displaced continues, especially the people of Afrin who were displaced due to the Turkish occupation.

In this context, Thabet al-Jawhar believes it is essential for these displaced individuals to return to their areas, live with dignity, and implement the agreements made between Mazloum Abdi and Ahmad al-Shara'a.

Hate speech and foreign interventions: A danger threatening the unity of Syrians

Al-Jawhar confirmed that the massacres witnessed in areas such as the coast and Jaramana were the result of external interventions and incitement agendas that seek to spread hatred and genocide, exploiting virtual communication platforms to fuel division and projects aimed at fragmenting the Syrian social fabric.

In this context, he pointed out that their party held a dialogue seminar in Damascus under the title: "Rejecting Hate Speech and Unifying the Syrian National Discourse," with the participation of activists, academics, and media professionals. He noted that the party leadership was subjected to a systematic attack with a discourse that has no connection to the national situation.

Model of North and East Syria

Al-Jawhar emphasized that what is happening in North and East Syria is a positive model in unifying opinions and political discourse, and striving to build a decentralized democratic Syria that respects all components of the Syrian people, according to a new constitution. He stated that the experience of autonomous administration, with its forces and institutions, stands out as a successful model for providing a decent life for the region's inhabitants.

Al-Jawhar saw that the main demand of the Syrians is to control the loose weapons, especially by the armed groups affiliated with the Ministry of Defense. He pointed out that some groups still practice kidnapping, looting, and violations in the absence of full authority control, which hinders efforts to achieve security and stability.

The role of the people in the success of the political process and the maintenance of civil peace

The Secretary-General of the Syrian National Party emphasized that the success of any political process, especially concerning the current Syrian government, requires that the people be the primary reference, and that there be genuine representation of all components of Syrian society in the transitional government and the transitional justice committee.

Thabet al-Jawhar emphasized at the end of his speech the responsibility of Syrians to maintain civil peace and reject inciting speeches that sow discord, especially in light of the societal cohesion demonstrated by the regions of North and East Syria, thanks to the sacrifices of their sons for the dignity of the homeland.
