Swedish prosecutors today charged a man suspected of committing war crimes and terrorism related to the burning alive of a Jordanian Air Force pilot in Syria ten years ago.

The man, identified in court documents as Osama Karim, is 32 years old and has previously been convicted of involvement in attacks in Paris in 2015 and Brussels in 2016.

ISIS killed Jordanian pilot Muath al-Kasasbeh in December 2014 and later released a video of him being burned alive in a cage.

The indictment shows that the Swedish Prosecution Service has charged Karim with serious war crimes and terrorism.

The indictment states that "Karim, in collaboration with other ISIS perpetrators, killed Muath al-Kasasbeh." Karim forced the pilot into the cage and filmed him, knowing that the footage would be released to demonstrate ISIS's plans and ideology.

Under Swedish law, the country's courts have the authority to try people for crimes against international law committed abroad.
