Sweida Chamber rejects Transitional Government’s claims of coordination

“In the interest of transparency before public opinion, and in response to remarks by Brigadier General Ahmad al-Dalati, head of what is referred to as the Internal Security in Sweida under the Ministry of Interior, regarding the entry of food supplies into the governorate, we clarify the following:

– The Chamber categorically denies any coordination or communication with the Damascus-based authorities since the beginning of the brutal war waged by the de facto government against Sweida.

– Several local traders who attempted to secure food shipments from Damascus suppliers were subjected to extortion at security checkpoints, where they were forced to pay bribes in exchange for passage. This prevented essential goods from reaching residents.

– The Chamber strongly condemns the Interior Ministry’s statements, which distort reality. These claims are baseless and serve only to polish the image of certain official bodies at the expense of the suffering of Sweida people.

– The governorate remains under a suffocating blockade that obstructs the regular and unhindered delivery of food and essential commodities, deepening the humanitarian crisis faced by our community.

– The Chamber reiterates its commitment to presenting the truth to the public and calls for the immediate lifting of the blockade and the guaranteed entry of basic necessities without obstruction or extortion.”

Al-Dalati had earlier alleged that the Ministry of Interior, in coordination with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was ensuring the provision of daily essentials and the entry of food supplies into Sweida.
