Suweida forms interim executive and appoints new internal security chief

The Higher Legal Committee, which operates under the authority of the Druze spiritual leadership, declared in a statement posted on its newly launched official page that it had formed a temporary executive office to manage Suweida and its surrounding areas. 

The statement also announced the appointment of a new commander for the Internal Security Forces.

According to the statement, “Suweida is going through a critical and defining phase due to the atrocities and violations committed by the transitional government forces and the armed groups accompanying them. This has necessitated an organized response to meet the needs of the population and manage institutions.”

The statement outlined the committee’s responsibilities, including managing the province across administrative, security, and service sectors; protecting both public and private institutions; combating corruption; and alleviating injustice against all citizens, regardless of background.

The plan includes forming specialized subcommittees for areas such as humanitarian relief, documenting violations, addressing the issue of missing and forcibly disappeared persons, supporting the families of martyrs and the wounded, organizing and distributing donations, overseeing hospitals and healthcare services, as well as managing education, economy, and environmental sectors.

The temporary executive office includes eight appointed members, each responsible for a specific sector:

Eng. Walid Fadlallah Al-Qudmani – Municipal and local councils

Eng. Faten Ibrahim Joudieh – Social affairs, labor, Red Crescent, disaster management, and higher education

Lawyer Majed Said Al-Bayrouti – Transportation, communications, electricity

Dr. Mazen Fares Al-Touil – Health, culture, youth, and sports

Eng. Khaldoun Fawzi Abu Saadeh – Economy, trade, and industry

Eng. Nidal Mohammad Aziz – Planning, budgeting, and public-sector companies

Lawyer Issam Arij – Agriculture, water resources, and real estate affairs

Dr. Nawal Younes Naeem – Education, tourism, antiquities, environment, and mineral resources

In addition, Mr. Maher Ghaleb Al-Andari was appointed as Secretary-General of the province, while Brigadier General Shakib Ajwad Nasr was appointed as Commander of the Internal Security Forces, with Brigadier General Anwar Adel Radwan as his deputy.
