Suwayda sees clashes and uprising amid field executions

In the field situation, ANHA correspondent in Suwayda reported that local factions still control most areas of the province. He noted that executions and arson are being committed during infiltrations by groups into unsecured neighborhoods, far from the local factions' strongholds.

The correspondent also indicated that local armed factions in Suwayda managed to retake villages in the northern countryside after fierce clashes that resulted in several casualties.

Meanwhile, no progress has been recorded for the transitional government forces and their affiliates toward the town of Qanawat. In Suwayda city, chaos prevails due to the spread of extremist groups attempting to storm civilian homes.

The town of Ariqa witnessed clashes that ended with local factions repelling the attackers. The city also experienced intense battles, particularly near the National Museum, amid heavy shelling targeting the National Hospital. The hospital, housing medical staff and patients, is enduring dire conditions due to a siege, power outages, and shortages of food and supplies.

Local sources confirmed that forces affiliated with Syria’s transitional government are storming homes and carrying out "field executions."

Witnesses reported that some perpetrators wear insignia associated with "ISIS" mercenaries, and killings are accompanied by interrogations about residents' sectarian affiliations. According to local sources, civilians are living under constant threat, with ongoing direct liquidations inside homes or on the streets, in addition to abductions followed by executions.

Reports also mentioned heavy machine gun fire targeting the Nahda and Qalaa residential areas, resulting in civilian casualties, including women and children trapped in their homes. The humanitarian crisis has worsened, with tens of thousands displaced toward southern areas near the Jordanian border.

Displaced areas are also being shelled, according to testimonies. The Damascus-Suwayda road has been closed for four days, as have all roads leading to Daraa province, leading to a complete siege and rapid depletion of food and medicine, with markets and shops entirely shut down. ANHA correspondent reported that the National Hospital remains under siege, endangering the lives of the wounded and preventing any medical aid. Amid this situation, residents of Nahda and Qalaa neighborhoods have issued repeated warnings about snipers targeting anyone appearing at windows or walking in the streets.

An hour ago, loudspeakers across Suwayda’s city and countryside called on residents to defend themselves and their dignity against ongoing violations, as field executions of civilians in the city escalate. Local sources stated that what is happening amounts to a "comprehensive popular uprising" in response to what they described as a campaign of extermination and ethnic cleansing. Since this morning and until the time of this report, Suwayda and its countryside have been subjected to airstrikes by Israeli drones and aircraft targeting various locations, with no confirmed information on the resulting damage or casualties.
