The Martyrs’ Families Councils in the cities of Jal Agha, Girkê Legê and Amuda, in the Jazira region, issued separate statements to the public today, condemning yesterday’s attack on the Martyrs’ Families Council centre in Tal Tamr.

In Jal Agha, the statement was read in Kurdish and Arabic by Ahin Shweish, a member of the Martyrs’ Families Council, in front of the council’s centre in the Al-Rasafa neighbourhood.

In Girkê Legê, the city’s Martyrs’ Families Council issued a statement to the public outside its centre in the town of Rumeilan. It was read by council member Alaa Al-Daham.

In Amuda, the statement was read in front of the council’s centre by member Mohammed Ahmed, in the presence of representatives of the city council.

The statement said that the attack on the Martyrs’ Families Council in Tal Tamr constituted a dangerous step directly targeting civil and community institutions. It added that the attack clearly indicated an attempt to incite chaos and undermine peaceful coexistence, crossing red lines and violating moral and humanitarian principles.

The statement added that the attack reflects the helplessness and desperation of those behind it in the face of a society seeking to strengthen solidarity and preserve its institutions, which were established through great sacrifices.

It stressed that turning a blind eye to the attack would amount to disregarding the sacrifices made by martyrs and their families, and would only serve malicious objectives aimed at undermining national and community institutions and obstructing their ability to fulfil their moral and national duties.

The statement emphasized that protecting institutions and maintaining security and civil peace are top priorities that cannot be compromised. It called on the relevant authorities to assume their full responsibilities in protecting the region and its institutions from any attempts at sabotage or actions that threaten its security.

The statement called for immediate and direct action, as well as an urgent and comprehensive investigation to uncover the circumstances of the attack, identify and pursue the perpetrators, arrest them, and bring them to justice so that they face the appropriate legal penalties. It stressed that the relevant authorities bear responsibility for the security of the region and its institutions.

The Martyrs’ Families Council in Girkê Legê also declared its full and unconditional support for the Martyrs’ Families Council and the people of Tal Tamr, pledging to continue supporting national and community institutions in confronting attempts to destabilize the region and undermine its national unity.

The statement concluded by affirming that the martyrs would remain in the nation’s collective memory and that the will of free peoples would endure.
