Source: Hasaka meeting ends without resolving bakery crisis

Relevant authorities held a meeting yesterday in the city of Hasaka to address the crisis caused by the suspension of the governorate's bakeries. This stoppage followed the flour mills' refusal to release flour supplies unless payment was made using the new Syrian currency or via the "Sham Cash" system.

According to a source speaking exclusively to ANHA agency, the meeting concluded without a resolution to the crisis. The source noted the possibility of a follow-up meeting in Damascus within the next two days, aimed at finding a suitable solution.

The current crisis has forced dozens of bakeries across the governorate to halt operations due to the unavailability of the new Syrian currency in local markets, resulting in severe shortages.

Ismail Darwish, head of the Bakers' Union in Qamishlo, had previously confirmed to ANHA agency that the crisis does not stem from the bakery owners themselves, but rather from the flour mill administration's refusal to distribute flour unless payment is made in the new Syrian currency or through "Sham Cash."
