The family of human rights activist Narges Mohammadi, who has been detained in Iranian prisons since 2021, reported that Narges refused to appear before the Revolutionary Court in Tehran on Tuesday (December 19).

“The Revolutionary Court is the slaughterhouse of the youth of Iran, and I will not set foot in this slaughterhouse,” Mohammadi said in a statement posted on her Instagram page before the start of her trial.

Narges Mohammadi, whose family received the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo on her behalf on December 10, explained that the Revolutionary Court in which she is being tried is responsible for issuing death sentences against young Iranian women and men.

“I refuse to grant credibility or authority to judges affiliated with secret services and courts that engage in staged trials,” she added.
