Workers at the central mill in the city of Raqqa, Syria, staged a sit-in today in front of the governorate building, demanding the payment of their overdue wages and the signing of employment contracts that guarantee their job rights.

The workers stated that they have not received their wages since December 30, 2025, despite repeated promises that they would be formally employed through official contracts. However, they were later surprised by a decision to hand over the mill to an investor, raising fears about the loss of their rights and the continued delay of their financial dues.

The protesters emphasized that their demands focus on the immediate payment of accumulated salaries and clarification of their employment status. They called on the relevant authorities to urgently intervene to find a solution that ensures the continuation of their work and the protection of their legal rights.

Meanwhile, the city of Raqqa is also witnessing daily protests by sanitation workers affiliated with the Raqqa municipality, due to the non-payment of their salaries since the beginning of the year, amid the absence of any official explanations.
