The Co-Chair of the Defense Body, Zaidan Al-Assi, spoke to ANHA agency about recent military developments in various areas of the region.

He confirmed that the region is facing attacks from the Damascus government forces and the so-called "National Defense" targeting the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, as well as attacks by the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries on areas in the countryside of Afrin, Shahba, and Manbij.

Al-Assi noted that the intention is to mislead public opinion about the attacks by the Damascus government forces and the "National Defense," under different pretexts, to create division and drag the region into civil war.

He pointed out that the simultaneous attacks indicate coordination between the two sides to undermine the achievements of the people of NE Syria and to destroy the autonomous administration project aimed at resolving the Syrian crisis.

Regarding the latest developments in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, Al-Assi stated, "The situation in Deir ez-Zor is secure, and the Syrian Democratic Forces have managed to repel the attacks and eliminate the attackers, with support from the tribal members and their resistance."

He added, "However, the shelling continues, with the Damascus government forces advancing from time to time."

On the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, the Damascus government forces and the "National Defense" launched attacks from their positions in the countryside of Mayadin, Boukamal, and the Al-Ashara area, targeting towns in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

Initially, they targeted the vicinity of Deir ez-Zor towns including Diban, and other towns like Al-Shahil, Al-Tayaneh, Drenj, Abu Hardoub, Abu Hamam, Al-Latwa, and Gharanij, with the Syrian Democratic Forces taking necessary measures.

Simultaneously, groups from the Damascus government forces and the "National Defense," under instructions from General Intelligence chief Hossam Louqa, infiltrated from their positions in the towns of Baqaras Fawqani, Baqaras Tahtani, Al-Quria, and Sabikhan by boat into the Autonomous Administration areas in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, according to local sources from Damascus-controlled areas.

The shelling and attacks resulted in the martyrdom of 13 civilians, 12 others injured, the martyrdom of Syrian Democratic Forces fighters, and significant damage to civilian property.

At the same time, the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries launched both ground and air strikes on the countryside of Afrin, Shahba, and Manbij, and on SDF positions in the Jazera Canton within the countryside of Hasaka city.
