Preparations continue in North and East Syria for the municipal elections that will be held next May 30, and after the Democratic Union Party and Kongra Star announced their alliance to enter a unified list, the city of Hasakah witnessed today a series of meetings between the coalition and political parties and blocs in the region.

The Democratic Union Party and Kongra Star alliance received at the party center in the city of Hasakah, 7 political parties and blocs: (the Syriac Union Party, the Kurdish Democratic Left Party in Syria, the Reform Movement - Syria, the Kurdistan Democratic Party - West Kurdistan, the Future Syria Party, the Development and Change Party, And the Kurdistan Democratic Peace Party).

The meetings took place to emphasize and discuss the importance of the elections and what they represent for the region and its people, and to introduce the coalition program, the possibility of joining the coalition and its importance, and ways of cooperation in the elections.

Regarding the meetings that were held closed to the media, the co-chair of the Democratic Union Party’s Relations Office, Shanouk Dibo, told ANHA's agency, “After the announcement of the alliance, we are keen through our meetings on broad popular and popular participation in these elections, because we consider them to be extremely important and a strategic issue, and this the meetings are important in the context of the upcoming electoral steps.”

Regarding whether the visiting parties confirmed in the meetings whether they had joined the coalition or not, Dibo said: “All those we met, in principle, confirmed their participation in the elections for councils and co-chairs within the coalition.”

According to coalition members, the series of meetings will continue within the framework of the same endeavor.
