No information has been received about Leader Abdullah Ocalan for more than 38 months, and the European Committee against Torture has not revealed its report regarding its visits to Imrali prison, despite all requests and calls to reveal it.

The European Committee against Torture revealed its annual report before the European Parliament in Brussels, and according to the Al-Furat News Agency (ANF), during the press conference, a Stêrk TV correspondent asked a question about Imrali, but the Executive Secretary of the European Committee against Torture (CPT), Hugh Chetwynd, did not provide any direct answer, and holds the Turkish authorities responsible for this.

Chetwynd said: “We discuss these issues with the Turkish authorities on every visit we make to Turkey, and this is a confidential dialogue. It is an issue that we follow carefully, and we wanted to reveal our report regarding the visit we made in 2022. But the Turkish authorities are the ones who will decide when this report will be revealed. We are following this issue closely, and our committee held a meeting with Ocalan’s lawyer last week. We care about this issue and we will conduct our visit in this regard when we deem it appropriate.”

It is worth noting that the European Committee against Torture did not reveal the report of its visit to Imrali in 2022. It visited Turkey last February, but did not visit Imrali.

No information has been received about Leader Abdullah Ocalan, who has been detained under strict conditions of isolation in Imrali prison for more than 3 years, and the weekly requests submitted by his lawyers and family to meet with him are not responded to.
