"Serê Kaniyê IDPs' return is imminent, to be safe"

The spokesman for the Serê Kaniyê Displaced People Committee confirmed that the return of the displaced people to their city and villages is imminent and will be safe, following a meeting held with the leader Mahmoud Khalil Ali, where the discussions focused on the mechanism for opening the roads and ways to return.

A meeting was held on Sunday at the Serê Kaniyê camp between the Serê Kaniyê Displaced Persons Committee and Mahmoud Khalil Ali; the leader in the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) in Hasaka Governorate, at the request of the displaced residents, to discuss ways to ensure a safe and dignified return to the city and its countryside.

In this context, Lawyer Mahmoud Jamil; the spokesperson for the Serê Kaniyê Displaced Persons Committee, explained that the meeting addressed several points, including organizing a planned visit by the security leader to Serê Kaniyê city to reassure the residents, as well as working to reopen the roads leading to the city from the directions of Tell Tamer and Derbasiyah, to facilitate residents' access to their homes.

He indicated that the return of the displaced is a priority, with a focus on restoring stability to the city, and emphasized the importance of residents relying on their efforts in reconstruction.

He added that meetings will be held in the coming period with representatives of the Interim Government to coordinate, particularly on security matters, to guarantee the safe return of residents.

Jamil stressed that the situation is improving, and called on the displaced to prepare for their return, which may happen in the near future.
