Security operation launched in al-Hol Camp

This morning, the Internal Security Forces in North and East Syria launched a security operation in al-Hol Camp, located east of Hasakah in the Jazira Canton.

HASAKAH

The Internal Security Forces in North and East Syria launched a security operation today, Friday, in al-Hol Camp, east of Hasakah, Jazira Canton.

The operation comes as part of a series of previous security campaigns carried out by the Internal Security Forces in coordination with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), amid the growing activity of ISIS sleeper cells inside the camp.

For years, the camp has witnessed increasing movements by ISIS cells, exploiting the security vacuum that followed the collapse of the Ba’ath regime, along with the Turkish army’s attacks on areas of North and East Syria, which have contributed to instability and created a suitable ground for ISIS activity.

The Internal Security Forces are expected to issue an official statement in the coming hours detailing the operation and its objectives.
