AANES, transitional government hold talks to ease tensions in Aleppo 

The meeting was held yesterday evening in Aleppo city between representatives of the AANES and the Syrian transitional government to explore mechanisms for de-escalation and enforcement of the previously signed agreement regarding the two neighborhoods.

According to ANHA correspondents, the meeting was attended by officials from the  AANES, commanders from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), as well as members of the Syrian transitional government’s committee, including officers and officials.

The discussions focused on the recent tensions in Aleppo, particularly the mobilization and reinforcements of government forces around Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh, and on continuing the implementation of the April 1 agreement’s provisions concerning the two neighborhoods. The parties also addressed the formation of committees to ensure the full and uninterrupted implementation of the agreement.

It was agreed to halt government military mobilization around Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh, end the state of escalation and tension, and hold further meetings between the specialized committees of both sides.

On April 1 of this year, an agreement was concluded between the councils of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh neighborhoods and the transitional government, consisting of 14 main provisions. These include promoting coexistence and protecting residents, preventing armed displays, and organizing internal security. The agreement also stipulates the formation of committees to enforce the provisions and facilitate movement and mobility.
