Security Forces issue statement on armed attack at Raqqa checkpoint

The Media Center of the Internal Security Forces in North and East Syria issued a statement regarding the attack on one of its checkpoints east of Raqqa, which read as follows: “An individual riding a motorcycle opened fire indiscriminately with a Kalashnikov rifle at one of our checkpoints in the town of al-Karama, east of Raqqa.

 Our forces immediately responded to the source of fire, neutralizing the attacker on the spot. The assault led to the martyrdom of two civilians, while none of our members were harmed.

Following the incident, our forces launched a sweep of the area to search for any individuals who might be connected to the attack, and implemented the necessary security measures to ensure stability and prevent any attempts to undermine safety and public order.

We in the General Command of the Internal Security Forces in North and East Syria affirm that such cowardly acts will not deter us from fulfilling our duty to protect civilians and preserve security and stability across all our regions.”
