According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, members of the Damascus government forces — led by “Abu al-Majd,” a former commander in Jaish al-Islam from the Qalamoun region — attacked a woman from the town of al-‘Ataybah.

Local media reported that the woman was beaten on the head with the butt of a rifle. One of the soldiers also pointed his weapon at her sister, causing widespread anger and resentment among civilians.

On September 17, the al-Bahdaliyah area near Sayyida Zainab in the Damascus countryside witnessed a security operation by Damascus government forces, during which they opened fire on a young man from the Shiite community, seriously injuring him. He was taken to hospital in critical condition.

In the same operation, the forces also arrested another young man from the town of Busra al-Sham and took him to an undisclosed location, no information on the reasons for his detention.
