In an atmosphere charged with enthusiasm and revolutionary spirit, the Syrian Revolutionary Youth Movement in Tell Tamer kindled the Newroz flame this evening at Newroz Square in the city center. The event drew broad participation from residents and members of civil society institutions, in protest against Decree No. 188 issued by the Transitional Government, which failed to recognize the festivals of Syria’s ethnic and religious components as official holidays.

The celebration brought together youth from all communities—Arabs, Kurds, Syriacs, and Assyrians—alongside representatives of civil institutions, women’s and community organizations, many of whom wore traditional costumes reflecting their distinct heritage.

As the flame was lit, revolutionary and folkloric songs filled the air, glorifying the values of freedom, resistance, and renewal, while participants formed traditional dance circles to the rhythm of folk music.

The celebration concluded in an atmosphere of joy and unity, with participants affirming that the Newroz flame will continue to burn brightly in their hearts—a lasting symbol of freedom and resistance, and a clear message that the cultures of the peoples cannot be erased or denied.
