Second group of military forces withdraws from Ashrafieh, Sheikh Maqsoud

As part of the implementation of the agreement signed between the General Council of the Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhoods and the Damascus authorities, the second batch of military forces withdrew today from the two neighborhoods, heading toward the NE Syria region.

The second batch of military forces present in the Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhoods has now departed toward the NE Syria region. The group included around 500 male and female fighters along with their military equipment.

On April 1st, the General Council of the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods signed a 14-point agreement with the Damascus authorities. Several key points of the agreement have already been implemented, such as the exchange of the first group of prisoners and the withdrawal of military forces.

The first provision of the agreement was implemented on April 3rd, 2025, with a prisoner exchange. The total number of exchanged detainees was 243, including 146 civilians and military personnel from the Syrian Democratic Forces, and 97 individuals affiliated with the Damascus authorities.

On April 4th, the first batch of military forces, comprising around 400 male and female fighters, withdrew with their full military equipment to the NE Syria region.
