SDF takes security measures in Deir ez-Zor

On May 10, ISIS mercenaries launched a car bomb attack on a Syrian Democratic Forces checkpoint in the city of al-Shahil in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor province, which led to the death of three fighters and the injury of seven others. After that, the SDF began taking extensive security precautionary measures in Deir ez-Zor province.

Since this morning, the province has witnessed a wide and heavy deployment of military forces and internal security forces within the villages, towns and cities of Deir ez-Zor province, and the tightening of procedures at the checkpoints, in addition to a wide deployment of forces on the northern bank of the Euphrates River, and a tightening of monitoring and surveillance.

These measures come after the Syrian Democratic Forces announced yesterday, Saturday, through a statement: “Our forces implemented precautionary security measures in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor against the backdrop of the terrorist attack by ISIS, which targeted a checkpoint of our forces in the city of Shuhail. The measures include intensifying security coverage and closing some areas to pursue terrorist cells and investigations into those suspected of aiding terrorists. These procedures will be clearer and will be carried out in coordination with notables in the region and civil and military councils.
