SDF in Deir ez-Zor attacked by groups affiliated with Damascus

The Syrian Democratic Forces' media center issued a statement on Sunday on an armed attack supported by the Damascus government on its forces' positions in Deir ez-Zor countryside. 

The statement stated, "At 09:00 am, on Sunday, September 14, 2025, our forces stationed on the banks of the Euphrates River near al-Ashara Bridge in the town of Dernej in Deir ez-Zor eastern countryside, were subjected to a direct attack by armed groups affiliated with the Damascus government. This occurred while the latter were monitoring the movement of a group of fighters across the river.

Our forces have begun taking the necessary field measures to deal with the attack, and developments are still ongoing at the time of preparing this statement.

We, in the Syrian Democratic Forces, affirm our commitment to protecting the security and stability of our regions. We stress the full responsibility of the Damascus government for this attack and its elements paving the way for smuggling operations that undermine the stability of the region.
