The SDF Media Center issued a statement today revealing the dismantling of an ISIS mercenary cell in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor. The SDF confirmed that the cell opened fire despite repeated surrender calls, resulting in the deaths of three members.

The statement read:

"The Tactical Operations Teams (TOL) of the Syrian Democratic Forces, with the support of the International Coalition forces, carried out a precise security operation last Sunday in the town of Dhiban in eastern Deir ez-Zor, resulting in the dismantling of a dangerous ISIS terrorist cell.

After completing intelligence gathering on the cell’s movements and activities, our forces imposed a tight cordon on the site and issued a surrender call. However, the cell members opened fire, leading to clashes that killed three terrorists and captured five others, who are:

Mazen Al-Sarih (Abi Wafi)

Fadi Al-Sarih (Abi Mamoun)

Madin Al-Salem

Alawi Abdul Rahman (Ali)

Amjad Al-Sarih (Abi Ali)

Investigations revealed that the cell was active in transporting and manufacturing explosives and improvised explosive devices (IEDs), preparing car bombs, and planning attacks targeting military points, civilians, and service institutions.

Our forces confirm the continuation of security operations to pursue terrorist cells and dismantle their infrastructure, ensuring enhanced security and stability, and eradicating terrorism from the region.
