Transitional Govt. factions enforce tight siege on Sheikh Maqsoud -al-Ashrafieh

Our agency has monitored factions affiliated with the Ministry of Defense in the Syrian Transitional Government closing the roads leading to the Sheikh Maqsoud and al-Ashrafieh districts, aiming to tighten the siege on the two neighborhoods. These factions also prevented residents from passing through or entering the neighborhoods.

ANHA correspondent in Sheikh Maqsoud and al-Ashrafieh reported today that factions affiliated with the Ministry of Defense in the Syrian Transitional Government are imposing a tight siege on the neighborhoods in Aleppo and are preventing civilians from returning to their homes by blocking roads connecting the neighborhoods to al-Siryan district with large concrete blocks.

According to local sources, the checkpoints set up by the Transitional Government factions prevented residents from passing, exacerbating the suffering of the population and restricting civilian movement.

ANHA agency observed a crane placing large concrete blocks around the neighborhoods to block all entrances and exits, effectively besieging the neighborhoods.

Yesterday, Monday, Sheikh Maqsoud and al-Ashrafieh were subjected to an attack by Transitional Government factions, accompanied by heavy artillery shelling, rocket launcher fire, mortar rounds, tank fire, and heavy machine guns, which directly targeted civilian homes. This attack resulted in the death of a woman and injuries to 19 others.
