SDF: Damascus factions target Deir Hafir with over 20 shells, drone, forcing civilian displacement

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said that Damascus-affiliated factions have shelled the city of Deir Hafir in the countryside of Tabqa with more than 20 artillery shells and a drone attack, in an attempt to pressure residents and force them into displacement.

In a statement issued today, the SDF Media Center said that “Damascus factions continue their military escalation through indiscriminate artillery shelling of civilian-populated areas in the city of Deir Hafir, in a renewed attempt to pressure residents and forcibly push them into displacement from their areas.”

The statement noted that “over the past hour, the city has been hit by more than 20 artillery shells, in addition to being targeted by an explosive-laden drone, posing a direct threat to civilians’ lives and confirming the deliberate targeting of residential neighborhoods.”

It added that “our forces are closely monitoring the situation on the ground and continue to carry out their duties and take all necessary measures to maintain the security of the city and its residents.”
