On the occasion of the Yazidi New Year, which falls tomorrow, Wednesday, the Syrian Democratic Council issued a congratulatory telegram to the Yazidis on this occasion.

The Council, in its telegram, talked about the pain that the Yazidis went through throughout their history, and mentioned the crimes of ISIS in Şengal and the Turkish occupation mercenaries in Afrin against the Yazidis.

The telegram stated:

“On the occasion of the Yazidi New Year, “Red Wednesday,” which falls on the first Wednesday of April according to the Eastern calendar, we extend our warmest congratulations and blessings to the daughters and sons of the Yazidi religion and community in northern and eastern Syria and the world, hoping that the Yazidis will celebrate their holiday in safety and peace.

Throughout history, the Yazidis have faced many pains, tragedies and disasters. Once because of their adherence to their religious privacy and other times because of their national identity, and in Syria, the Yazidi community was not spared from terrorism and extremism, as happened in Afrin at the hands of extremist terrorist factions loyal to Turkey, which occupies the region. This was preceded by the crimes of the terrorist organization ISIS in Şengal (Sinjar) in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.

We congratulate “Red Wednesday” and hope that the upcoming holidays and events will return under better conditions and that our country, Syria, will recover under a decentralized, pluralistic democratic system.”
