SDC condemns raids, arrests in Tel Aran, Tel Hasel

The Syrian Democratic Council issued a statement on Wednesday regarding the attacks and raids that targeted Kurds in the towns of Tel Aran and Tel Hasel in the Aleppo countryside.

The statement condemned the raid and arrest campaign that targeted a number of Kurdish civilians in the two towns, along with the accompanying military deployment, home searches, and violations affecting civilians, including women and the elderly. These developments have sparked a state of fear and concern among local residents.

The Council stated that these practices are inconsistent with the principles of the rule of law and human rights, and do not align with the requirements of the transitional phase, which should be based on justice and equal citizenship rather than arbitrary arrests or the targeting of any component of Syrian society under any pretext.

The Syrian Democratic Council stressed that the continuation of such violations threatens civil peace, undermines trust among Syrians, and fuels social divisions, at a time when Syria urgently needs to consolidate national partnership and build a democratic state that respects rights and freedoms and safeguards the dignity of all its citizens.

The Council also categorically rejected any practices that could lead to forced displacement, demographic change, or the use of force to impose new realities on the ground.

It called for the immediate cessation of these violations, the release of all arbitrarily detained individuals, the disclosure of their fate, and the launch of an independent and transparent investigation to hold those responsible accountable, while ensuring the protection of civilians and respect for the rights of all Syrians without discrimination.

It further emphasized that building a stable and secure Syria can only be achieved through the rule of law, justice, accountability, and genuine national partnership, away from policies of exclusion and intimidation, in a way that strengthens trust among all components of Syrian society and preserves the country’s unity and future.
