SDC calls for urgent aid to Hasaka displacement camps

An emergency appeal was issued by the Committee for Displaced People from Serê Kaniyê to international and local humanitarian organizations, as well as all concerned parties, urging them to provide urgent humanitarian aid to the Washokani Camp and Serê Kaniyê Camp in the Jazira Canton after they sustained significant damage due to heavy rain, flooding, and harsh weather conditions.

Under these circumstances, children, the elderly, and the sick are suffering the most, especially amid a severe shortage of food supplies and healthcare services.

In a statement, the Syrian Democratic Council emphasized the need for rapid and effective action by all concerned parties to provide support to the two camps. It also stressed the importance of the Syrian Interim Government adhering to its responsibilities toward ensuring the voluntary and safe return of displaced people to their homes in accordance with international humanitarian standards, guaranteeing them a safe and dignified return.

The council also reiterated the importance of continuing humanitarian assistance for Syrians living in camps and working to end the suffering of displaced persons across Syria, ensuring them a dignified life amid the current difficult conditions.

The two camps host thousands of people forcibly displaced from Serê Kaniyê, where heavy rainfall has flooded many tents and temporary shelters, worsening the suffering of families living there and placing them in unsafe humanitarian conditions.
