School administration, TEV-DEM light Newroz flame

As part of the celebrations held to welcome Newroz, which falls on the twenty-first of March every year, the school administration in the city of Qamishlo and the Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM) lit the flame of the festive.

QAMISHLO

As part of the celebrations marking Newroz on March 21st, the school administration in Qamishlo organized a Newroz torch-lighting ceremony on Tuesday.

Teachers, both male and female, wearing traditional Kurdish attire, participated in the event, along with representatives of martyrs' families, amid decorating the torch-lighting site with Kurdish flags and symbols.

Before the lighting of the Newroz torch, Obeid Ati; the co-chair of the Qamishlo Martyrs' Families Council, spoke about the resistance shown by the Kurds on this sacred day, and how they affirmed their identity and liberated themselves from injustice and oppression.

Afterwards, the Newroz torch was lit, while the participants formed circles around the flames to the revolutionary and traditional Kurdish songs.

In a related context, the Democratic Society Movement lit the Newroz torch in front of its headquarters in Qamishlo and held circles of the dabke dance to the revolutionary songs.
