Rome Municipality expresses its readiness for cooperation

A delegation from the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria and the Women’s Protection Units, consisting of the representative of the Autonomous Administration in Europe, Abdul Karim Omar, the spokeswoman for the Women’s Protection Units, Roxsan Muhammad, and the co-chair of the Autonomous Administration’s representation in Switzerland, Medea Hassan, held a meeting with a delegation from the Greater Rome Municipality. , composed of International Relations Officer Ugo Papi, Andrea Catarci, Municipal Council Member and Decentralization Officer, Amedeo Ciaccheri, Mayor of Rome VIII, Claudio Marotta, Member of the Lazio District Council, in the Town Hall.

During the meeting, the AANES delegation thanked the Municipality of Rome for its support for the Autonomous Administration and the components of the NE Syria region, by raising the flag of the Democratic Society Movement on the Rome Municipality building alongside the Italian flag and the European Union flag during the liberation of Kobani from ISIS mercenaries, in gratitude for the sacrifices made by the Kurds, and the components of Rojava in fighting ISIS mercenaries on behalf of all humanity.

The Democratic AANES delegation also provided a glimpse into the experience of the AANES among the various components of the NE Syria, as a democratic project suitable to be a model in other Syrian regions, to build a new, democratic, decentralized Syria as a common homeland for all Syrians.

The Autonomous Administration delegation also touched on the role that women exercise in Autonomous Administration, as the percentage of women’s presence in most administration institutions is not less than 50%, as well as the adoption of co-chair between women and men in all Autonomous Administration institutions in accordance with the social contract.

The Italian delegation was also briefed on the humanitarian and economic conditions that the region of NE Syria is experiencing as a result of the crisis that Syria has been experiencing for more than 13 years, as well as the state of siege that the region has been experiencing for years, and its impact on the living situation of the region’s residents, especially in light of the weakness of international support, and the need for Italy and the international community to assume their responsibilities in delivering aid to the region of NE Syria, to ease the burden of the economic crisis on the daily lives of the region’s residents.

The 2 delegations also touched on the crimes committed by Turkey in the occupied territories, and the crimes it commits against civilians, by targeting service infrastructure, electricity and gas stations, and oil wells. These practices and violations are war crimes described in international humanitarian law, according to which Turkish officials are supposed to be transferred to appear before the relevant international courts.

In turn, the Italian delegation indicated that they are closely informed of the conditions and developments in the NE Syria, and expressed thanks and appreciation for the sacrifices made by the people of the NE Syria in the face of ISIS mercenaries on behalf of all humanity,also expressed his admiration for the experience of the Autonomous Administration and the role that women play in the NE Syria, whether it be in fighting ISIS, or actively contributing to the various institutions of the AANES, and their readiness for twinning between municipalities in Rome and their counterparts in the NE Syria, in addition to contributing to the rehabilitation of some service institutions such as drinking water and sanitation projects, etc.
