An international conference titled "The Physical Freedom of Leader APO" is being held on April 11 and 12 in the Italian capital, Rome, with wide participation from representatives of political movements, unions, lawyers, and activists from around the world.

The Italian General Confederation of Labour (CGIL), organized by the Kurdistan Media Office and the Committee for the Freedom of Leader Apo, is holding an international conference on April 11 and 12 in the Italian capital, Rome, under the title "The Physical Freedom of Leader Apo," as reported by the Furat News Agency.

This conference is part of the global campaign "Freedom for Abdullah Ocalan, the political solution to the Kurdish issue," which was launched on October 10, 2023.

Wide international participation

The conference will be attended by more than 300 delegates from 16 countries, including delegations from the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria and the Party of Equality and Democracy, as well as politicians, unions, lawyers, activists, and representatives of youth and women's movements. Additionally, the Deputy Mayor of Bologna, Emily Clancy, who recently granted honorary citizenship to leader Abdullah Ocalan, will also participate.

The program for the first day, April 11

The conference activities will kick off at 15:00 with musical performances inspired by the ideas of leader Abdullah Ocalan. Speakers will include Simon Dobbins from the British UNITE union, Professor Karyan Westerheim, and campaign spokesperson Zubaida Zamurd. A cultural event will also be organized at the Ararat Center, featuring Kurdish cuisine, followed by a musical performance by the band I Cumpari, which specializes in traditional Neapolitan music.

During the seminars and sessions, the evaluation of the campaign's results over two years will be addressed, the impact of leader Abdullah Ocalan's call for peace and a democratic society (February 27), the role of women's and youth movements in continuing the campaign, as well as listening to perspectives from Kurdistan and the Middle East, and the prospects for legal and international efforts to support the physical freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan.

The second day (April 12):

The second day will address international legal and human rights efforts with the participation of the "Century" law firm, as well as sessions and seminars on Leader Apo's vision for peace and a democratic society.

The conference will conclude with an open forum for expressing opinions and suggestions, led by Niloufer Koch, Michela Ericali, and Sarah Glenn, with the participation of institutions such as Rete Jin, Jinoloji, the Academy of Democratic Modernity, women's and youth movements, along with online contributions from international representatives.

The conference outputs will be published in four languages: Kurdish, English, Italian, and Spanish, and will be shared with the global public.
