Road leading to Sheikh Maqsoud opened

On Wednesday, the security committees of the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) in Aleppo and the Ministry of Interior of the Syrian Transitional Government reopened the Ashrafiyeh uphill road, which leads to Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood.

The reopening of the road followed the recent meeting between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and a delegation from the Syrian Transitional Government, held on October 20 in the city of Tabqa. The two sides discussed the tensions in Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh neighborhoods of Aleppo and emphasized the importance of peaceful solutions to ensure civilian safety and prevent escalation.

In a gesture of goodwill, SDF handed over a number of previously detained members of the Transitional Government Forces at the meeting, reaffirming their commitment to stability and the protection of the population.

On Tuesday, the Internal Security Forces in Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh neighborhoods of Aleppo city received a delegation from the Syrian Transitional Government to re-implement the terms of the April agreement.

Seven main roads connect the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods to Aleppo's neighborhoods. All of these were closed on October 6. However, after protests and public pressure, only three of these roads were reopened. Today, the Ashrafiyeh uphill road reopened, while al-Layramoun roundabout, al-Jandoul roundabout, and al-Jazeera remain closed.
