Rising violence against women in N. Kurdistan,Turkey: 41 women killed

The rate of violence against women has risen alarmingly in N. Kurdistan and Turkey, with 41 women reported killed in the month of May alone.

The platform "We Will Stop Femicide" announced that 41 women were killed in N. Kurdistan and Turkey during the past May, 21 of whom were murdered by members of their own families.

According to the platform's monthly report, 62% of the women were killed inside their homes using firearms or sharp objects, and sometimes through horrific means such as torture or strangulation.

The report also noted that 20 women lost their lives under mysterious circumstances, the details of which remain unknown.

The report confirmed that violence against women continues to rise at a dangerous rate, warning that domestic violence poses the greatest threat to women's lives, with many being killed by their husbands or relatives amid a lack of effective legal protection.

The platform called for the implementation of stricter laws to protect women and emphasized the urgent need for serious and comprehensive investigations into every crime in an effort to curb the ongoing deterioration in women's safety and lives.
