Resumption of journalist Suleiman Ahmed trial
A member of the lawyer team of journalist Suleiman Ahmed, Nariman Ahmed, revealed that the South Kurdistan Court of Appeal will decide on the appeal of Roj News journalist and editor case' Suleiman Ahmed.
Nariman Ahmed, one of the lawyers of journalist Suleiman Ahmed, has revealed information regarding the hearing of the South Kurdistan Court of Cassation on the case of Suleiman Ahmed. "The case is currently before the Court of Cassation and will be decided," he said.
"There is not enough evidence against Suleiman Ahmed and he was sentenced to 3 years in prison," Nariman Ahmed said.
"Let us all put pressure on the Court of Cassation to overturn the decision of the Dohuk court, stop this repression, and restore dignity to the judiciary," explained Nariman Ahmed.
"The issue of political freedom of the press concerns all of us, so we must stand united against the undemocratic position of the authority," Ahmed said.
The editor of Roj News was sentenced to 3 years in prison on 29 July, after he was abducted by KDP militants at the Fishkhabour crossing on 25 October 2023.
