Residents of Jazira, Furat launch general mobilization to support Aleppo Neighborhoods

In condemnation of the attacks and massacres by the mercenaries of the Turkish-backed interim government on Sheikh Maqsoud, Al-Ashrafiya, and Bani Zaid in Aleppo, and in support of the residents’ resistance and resilience, a series of events and statements were organized in Qamishli, Garkê Legê, and Derik in Jazira Canton, and in Ain Issa in Furat Canton.

Qamishlo

Displaced people from Afrin, who suffered genocide and forced displacement by the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries in 2018 and moved from Shahba to Qamishlo in 2024, held a demonstration in support of the residents of Sheikh Maqsoud, Al-Ashrafiya, and Bani Zaid.

The demonstration started in front of the public park and the Mohammed Shikho Center for Culture and Art, proceeded to Martyrs’ Roundabout in the market, and returned to gather again in front of the Mohammed Shikho Center.

Protesters chanted slogans affirming support for Sheikh Maqsoud, Al-Ashrafiya, and Bani Zaid, including: “Long live the resistance of Sheikh Maqsoud and Al-Ashrafiya” and “Long live the resistance of Afrin Protection Forces and the Protection Forces of Sheikh Maqsoud and Al-Ashrafiya”, along with calls emphasizing unity against attacks.

Garkê Legê

Residents of Garkê Legê held a mass demonstration, starting from Ali Bin Abi Talib Mosque and marching through the main streets, chanting slogans such as “Long live the resistance of Sheikh Maqsoud and Al-Ashrafiya”, “Long live the Asayish”, and “Martyrs are immortal”.

At Shaheed Khbat Square, the demonstration became a protest stand with a minute of silence. Ayhan Murad, administrative member of the Democratic Union Party in Jazira, delivered a speech emphasizing that ongoing attacks and massacres, despite previous agreements, reflect deliberate violations of civilians’ rights, and the residents will continue their popular movement until these violations stop.

Murad stated: “We will not allow any party to threaten our security or break our will. The resistance of Sheikh Maqsoud, Al-Ashrafiya, and Bani Zaid is a legitimate defense of civilians and the dignity of the people.”

She concluded by affirming that “no matter how intense the attacks, the resistance of Sheikh Maqsoud, Al-Ashrafiya, and Bani Zaid will continue with wide popular support.”

Derik

Dozens of young men and women in Derik issued a statement announcing general mobilization in support of the resistance shown by the Internal Security Forces and residents of Sheikh Maqsoud, Al-Ashrafiya, and Bani Zaid. The gathering took place at the Shaheed Bawer Center of the Syrian Revolutionary Youth Movement.

The statement, read by Young Women’s Union member Stera Haso, said: “The mercenaries of the interim government have launched attacks on our people in Sheikh Maqsoud, Al-Ashrafiya, and Bani Zaid for the past three days, aiming to commit massacres against civilians and destabilize the region.”

It affirmed full youth support for residents and called for general mobilization to achieve victory, defend the land, and prevent mercenaries and traitors from taking any territory. The statement concluded by stressing that the same spirit that defended Kobani and Tishrin Dam, achieving historic victories, will continue to defend all areas, especially Sheikh Maqsoud, Al-Ashrafiya, and Bani Zaid.

Ain Issa

The Syrian Revolutionary Youth Movement and displaced people from Grî Spî issued a statement read by Mahmoud Al-Omar in Grî Spî Camp, with dozens of movement members and displaced residents present.

The statement condemned the violent attack on the residential neighborhoods of Al-Ashrafiya, Sheikh Maqsoud, and Bani Zaid, which caused dozens of deaths and injuries and displaced hundreds of thousands of civilians. It praised the Internal Security Forces’ resistance and emphasized that such attacks undermine coexistence and social peace, contrary to Syrians’ aspirations for a united country.

The statement concluded with a message of solidarity with the residents of Sheikh Maqsoud, Al-Ashrafiya, and Bani Zaid, affirming that a new Syria cannot be built on killing and destruction but on peace, justice, and coexistence among all Syrians.
