Residents of Jal Agha: No peace without freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan

Despite more than a year having passed since the launch of the "Peace and Democratic Society Process" and the steps taken by the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in this regard, Turkish authorities have not taken any steps to demonstrate their seriousness in reaching a peaceful and democratic solution. This is due to their continued isolation of leader Abdullah Ocalan and his exclusion from leading the process. In this context, citizens from the city of Jal Agha in al-Jazira canton spoke to ANHA agency.

Citizen Hussein Issa said, "Despite the peace process initiated by leader Abdullah Ocalan a year ago, the process continues thanks to his efforts and those of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which have propelled it to this point. Meanwhile, Turkey remains entrenched in its hostile stance towards the Kurdish issue, continuing its isolation of leader Abdullah Ocalan."

He added, "The continued isolation of the leader clearly demonstrates Turkey's intention to persist in its oppression of the Kurdish people, severing their connection with Abdullah Ocalan, forcing them to live without him, and convincing them that his ideology and philosophy are obstacles to achieving Kurdish freedom and rights. Turkey prefers Kurds who are submissive and compliant with its policies." He pointed out that the Kurdish people are aware of Turkey's plans, emphasizing their rejection of any process that does not include the freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan and his active role. He stated, "There can be no peace without the physical freedom of Leader "APO"," calling on Turkey to "take its position seriously, correct its policies, and genuinely engage with the Kurdish issue and the ongoing peace process, as it represents a final opportunity for Turkey. The biggest loser from the failure of this process is Turkey, while the Kurds continue their struggle and resistance for their existence and their gains."

For her part, citizen Sawsan Ramadan condemned the continued isolation of leader Abdullah Ocalan, considering its continuation "confirmation that the Turkish regime remains unwilling to accept the rights of the Kurdish people."

She stressed that "the isolation of leader Abdullah Öcalan is unacceptable, and his physical freedom is crucial, especially during the peace process and the establishment of a democratic society in Turkey, because his role is historical and decisive for the future of the political process in the region and the resolution of the Kurdish issue." She added that she is committed to continuing the struggle in accordance with the approach of leader Abdullah Ocalan and to rallying around him until his physical freedom is achieved, concluding her remarks by emphasizing that they will not accept any solution without his freedom.

For his part, Hussein Ali Barjas condemned the continued isolation, saying, "The continuation of the isolation means the continuation of the Turkish state's attempts to target the gains of the Kurdish people, and its attempt to exterminate the Kurds and obliterate their role in the future of the new Middle East."

He continued, "Leader Abdullah Ocalan is the only leader who has sacrificed for the freedom of his people, and were it not for his efforts and struggle, the Kurds today would have no voice, no position, and no existence. Thanks to him, the Kurdish people live with their identity and culture."

He stressed that the freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan is a fundamental demand, and that any peace process without him will be temporary and have no future. He stated that Ocalan is the only one capable of advancing the process and achieving the building of a just, democratic society with equal rights, pledging in conclusion to continue the struggle in accordance with his approach until his physical freedom is achieved.
