The Red Cross delegation entered the village of Mozan in the eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside today in order to pass on messages and information from Syrian detainees detained in Iraqi jails to their families.

The Syrian detainees were transferred to the Iraqi jails since December 2025 on charges of belonging to ISIS mercenaries.

As reported by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the families of the detainees have for many months insisted on revealing their sons' status amid the continued ambiguity about their conditions.

On August 5, dozens of villagers demonstrated in the town of Gharanij in the Deir ez-Zorcountryside, demanding that international organizations intervene to find out the fate of their relatives and follow up on their situation.
