Raqqa residents denounce Damascus govt. attacks, national defense

The region of North and East Syria has witnessed various activities denouncing the attacks by Damascus government forces and the so-called "National Defense" affiliated with it, on the countryside of Deir –ez-Zor canton since August 7, and popular discontent has increased with its perpetration of massacres against the people of the region through its indiscriminate artillery shelling.

During the protests that continue on a daily basis in the region, our agency met a number of participants, who expressed their denunciation and condemnation of the attacks, and indicated that they aim to destabilize the security and stability of their regions.

The co-chair of the Executive Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of Raqqa Canton, Mishlab al-Turkan, who was at the forefront of the participants, said: "We went out today in a massive march in rejection of the attacks launched by the Syrian regime against our people in the countryside of Deir-ez-Zor, to show our unity against these attacks and others."

He pointed out that the aim of these attacks is to destabilize the security and stability of the areas of the Democratic Autonomous Administration, after the peoples of the region have proven their solidarity and cohesion, and their reliance on themselves instead of the need for authority, indicating that the attacks of the Damascus government forces and the so-called "self-defense" are nothing but a clear expression of their continued efforts to target unity.

For her part, the administrator of the training committee in the Zenobia Women's Gathering Council, Kinana al-Abdo, who participated in the same event, said about their position as women in the region of North and East Syria regarding these attacks: "We will respond to anyone who tries to attack our land, and we will not stand idly by in the face of their crimes."

She added, "We have been standing with our forces, the Syrian Democratic Forces, since the beginning, to repel any aggressor who tries to destabilize the security and stability of our areas. We are with the Syrian Democratic Forces heart and soul."

In a clear and frank expression of his position, the co-chair of the Mustafa al-Nakzi Council in the al-Thakana neighborhood, Ali al-Sheikhan, said, "We, as the people of Raqqa, confirm our support for the Syrian Democratic Forces and we will respond to any attack on our land, before the Syrian Democratic Forces."
