Qubad Talabani: PUK does not have a presidential candidate yet

Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, revealed that the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan does not have a presidential candidate yet, indicating that the talks with the Kurdistan Democratic Party regarding the formation of the regional government are positive and the meeting scheduled for today has been postponed to next week.

Qubad Talabani, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, said in a press conference today that the ongoing discussions between the Kurdish and federal forces are progressing positively to form the new government, noting that the National Union has not yet finalized a candidate for the presidency.
Talabani described the meetings between the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan as "positive," and noted that the meeting scheduled for today was postponed to next week.
He added that the dialog with the other parties in Baghdad provided a good opportunity to understand the different perspectives, saying: "We have seen many parties and we are working on an organized and stable process, and we hope it paves the way for the formation of the federal government."
The Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Qubad Talabani, explained that the visit to Baghdad was an opportunity to understand strategic policies and convey the vision of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, noting that "our party is Iraqi and committed to a strong Iraq, and it is essential for the Kurdistan Region to be part of a strong and stable Iraq."
He added that they are striving to establish a correct strategy on both the economic and political fronts and to address the disputes between Erbil and Baghdad.
He concluded his speech by stating that they are working to ensure there are no salary discrepancies for the months of November and December in the Kurdistan Region, and operations are ongoing to ensure the continuity of procedures, with committees ready to issue lists and payments.
