PYD's Women's Council concludes 2nd forum, renews struggle to confront violence against women

The second forum of the Women's Council of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) concluded, confirming a set of key outcomes, most notably working to activate the role of councils and communes as pillars for building a moral and democratic political society, and considering the struggle against the patriarchal mentality as a shared struggle between women and men to restore the natural balance in human relations, in addition to continuing the struggle against all forms of violence and discrimination against women.

HASAKA

The second forum of the Women’s Council of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), which was held in the Samarkand Hall in the city of Hasaka in Jazira region, concluded under the slogan "Free and Dignified Life Is a Guarantee for Building a Democratic Communal Society," with the participation of 180 delegates, along with representatives of the Democratic Autonomous Administration, the Democratic Syrian Council, political parties, women’s organizations, human rights activists and intellectuals, independent figures, and Internal Security Forces.

The conference resulted in a number of key outcomes, most notably:

 Continuing the struggle for the physical freedom of Leader Ocalan, as he represents the freedom of all peoples yearning for justice.

Emphasizing the continuation of the intellectual, political, and organizational struggle against all forms of violence and discrimination practiced against women.

Establishing the concept of a democratic family based on love, respect, and freedom, far from ownership and guardianship.

Working collectively to activate the role of councils and communes as fundamental pillars for building a moral and democratic political society.

Increasing awareness and disseminating the concept of "equal and free life" among all segments of society and institutions to promote a culture of equality.

Holding mixed-gender workshops aimed at building the democratic family as a central step in establishing communal values.

Striving with a spirit of historical responsibility to ensure the success of the Leader's peace initiative.

Recognizing the struggle against patriarchal mindsets as a shared struggle between women and men to restore the natural balance of human relations.

This forum comes as part of the sixth phase of the campaign to confront violence against women, which was launched by the council on October 8th under the slogan "Towards Building a Democratic Syria Led by Free Women".
