The cities of Aleppo and Homs, which are under the control of the Interim Government, have seen demonstrations and protest gatherings rejecting the decision to raise electricity prices and condemning the worsening living and public service conditions that have burdened citizens.

Dozens of residents took to the streets in the town of Hassia and several neighborhoods of Homs for the second consecutive day, carrying banners reading “We won’t pay the bill... The revolution must return.” Protesters demanded improvements to economic conditions and an end to decisions that further increase their daily hardships.

In Aleppo, residents of the Sheikh Saeed neighborhood and nearby areas held a protest against air pollution caused by lead-smelting factories and waste burning, calling for the closure or relocation of these facilities away from residential areas.

The decision to raise electricity prices issued on October 31 by the Syrian Interim Government has sparked widespread reactions across Syrian streets and social media platforms. Many expressed their discontent, with some recalling that the timing of the decision brings back memories of previous governments’ economic policies that heavily burdened citizens.
