PYD held political meetings in Damascus

On May 13, the co-chair of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), Gharib Hasso, and the co-chairs of the party's Public Relations Office, Sama Bakdash and Suleiman Arab, along with two members of the party's General Council, Thuraya Mustafa and Hassan Abdullah, traveled to Damascus.

According to information obtained by ANHA agency from sources within the party, the delegation's agenda included several visits and meetings, but their meeting with the General Secretariat for Political Affairs of the Interim Government was the most prominent.

It is worth noting that the General Secretariat for Political Affairs reports to Foreign Minister Asaad Sheibani and plays a significant role; in other words, it serves as an advisory and guidance body. Although its decisions may not be considered absolutely official, but treated as binding decisions.

A delegation from the General Secretariat had previously visited Qamishlo on April 21 and held meetings with the PYD, the Kongra Star, and several other parties.

According to reports, party officials announced during those meetings (in Qamishlo) that they would reciprocate the visit to Damascus, and these current meetings between the party and the General Secretariat are taking place within this context.

Party sources explained that the discussions focused on the Kurdish issue, the constitution, the Kurdish language, and the question of integration.

Another aspect of the party's visit to Damascus, which was not reflected in the media, was that party officials indicated they held meetings in Damascus with Kurdish and Arab political and social figures, as well as civil society organizations. According to the sources, the party intends to continue these efforts to demonstrate that it adopts a policy that embraces all of Syria and that it will work to expand its activities in all regions.
