The Democratic Union Party (PYD) held two public meetings in the cities of al-Hasakah and al-Darbasiyah, with the participation of representatives from civil institutions, councils, political parties, and women's organizations. The meetings aimed to discuss the latest political developments in the country, explain the clauses of the January 29 agreement signed between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the interim government in Syria, and discuss the position of the Kurds in the upcoming phase.

Al-Hasakah City

In al-Hasakah city, the meeting was held at the party's headquarters, attended by representatives of civil institutions, political parties, and women's organizations, with the participation of PYD Presidency Council co-chair Fawza Youssef and the party's co-chair in al-Hasakah, Farhan Daoud.

During the meeting, Fawza Youssef provided an explanation of the current political situation, noting that Syria had witnessed many changes in the past year. She viewed these transformations as part of regional and international preparations concerning Iran, and that any changes in this context necessitate, in her view, bringing about changes in neighboring countries, pointing out that the former Damascus authority was one of the most prominent supporters of Iran.

She added that the coming period might witness significant changes with the escalation of attacks on Iran, noting the pursuit by international powers to play an influential role in the region and restructure it, including countries such as Iraq, Syria, and Turkey, along with Iran.

Regarding the Syrian affair, Fawza Youssef explained that despite the fall of the Ba'ath Party regime, policies have not fundamentally changed, and the goal is to maintain control and prevent alignment with Iran in the current attacks, affirming that these changes have repercussions on the region.

She affirmed that since 2011, the Kurds have not proposed a project of separation or partition, as it does not align with their interest, pointing out that they pursued the path of protecting their areas, especially in the face of ISIS mercenaries, and preventing society from falling into crises.

She touched upon the recent incitement campaigns targeting the region, stating that incitement forms the basis of wars and acts of killing, calling for the avoidance of enmity between Kurds and Arabs, and stressing the specificity of the region's geography and demographics.

Regarding constitutional rights, she pointed to the necessity of continuing the struggle to ensure Kurdish rights in the Syrian constitution, affirming that the stage of denying identity has been surpassed by reality, and what is required today is knowing how to establish a presence in the constitution and the next steps.

Concerning the January 29 agreement, she explained that the implementation of the clauses is being carried out sequentially, clarifying that the first clause related to a ceasefire has been implemented, while work is underway on the second clause, which has been fully implemented in the Jazira region, while partially applied in Kobani.

She also noted that the current phase witnesses, for the first time in Kurdish history, the appointment of a governor from among them, in addition to the Internal Security Forces taking over the administration of the area. She affirmed that among the most prominent issues raised are the matter of language, recognition of certificates, in addition to the ongoing discussion about universities, stressing that education in the Kurdish language is a fundamental right, and its protection is a priority.

She explained that the issue of "integration" means presence in the various institutions and ministries of the state in a future Syria. She also affirmed that the return of the residents of Serê Kaniyê and Afrin is a priority, with a focus on ensuring the residents' right to administer their areas.

She also addressed the necessity of organizing society and protecting the communes, pointing to their role in protection during recent events, in addition to the importance of strengthening the role of women, considering that women's representation in the interim government is weak, whereas Kurdish women and the Women's Protection Units (YPJ) had a fundamental role and made great sacrifices.

The meeting concluded with answering the attendees' questions and inquiries, and emphasizing the importance of strengthening civil peace.

Al-Darbasiyah City

In al-Darbasiyah city, the meeting was held in the hall of the Culture and Art Center, with the participation of members of civil institutions and councils.

During the meeting, the party's administrator, Suleiman Khalil, affirmed that the current phase requires a high awareness of the magnitude of the historical responsibility, stressing the necessity of the Kurdish people being a fundamental partner in drafting the Syrian constitution, and that any attempt to marginalize or exclude them is rejected.

Khalil pointed out that the resistance has not stopped, but has entered the phase of "democratic resistance," explaining that the struggle continues with political and organizational methods appropriate for the current phase. He added that the interim government does not recognize the role of women as required, and he considered this unacceptable, and that any project for a future Syria must be based on genuine democratic foundations, ensuring the participation of women, youth, and all components without discrimination or exclusion.

In the context of his speech, Khalil cited the words of leader Abdullah Ocalan, stating that what is happening is a continuation of an international conspiracy targeting the resistance of the Kurds, considering that societies by nature do not antagonize each other, but rather the interventions of states and their policies are what lead to fueling conflicts and igniting crises. In this context, he affirmed the necessity of studying the political situation deeply and analyzing it properly, to take considered positions in facing current challenges.

He also warned of the escalation of the "media war" and political maneuvers targeting the will of the people, pointing to the importance of being vigilant, strengthening community organization, and standing united against attempts to undermine the people's gains in the region.

Khalil affirmed that the party is open to integration, but that this must happen while preserving the specificity of the Kurdish people and their right to autonomous administration within a comprehensive national framework, stressing that any integration process should be based on mutual recognition and clear constitutional rights.

He concluded by affirming that the resistance will continue until the establishment of a genuine democratic state that guarantees the rights of all components without exception, and establishes a new phase of stability and national partnership in Syria.
